C. Patrick “PAT” Roberts

Pat Roberts is the President and CEO of the Florida Association of Broadcasters “FAB.” He was born in Pensacola, Florida and raised in a family that instilled in him that the most important things in life were faith, family, and friends.

After the passing of Florida’s 1987 Ad Tax, Roberts joined the FAB as a consultant to help lead the effort to repeal it. Following the successful repeal, Roberts was named President and CEO in 1988. Prior to joining FAB, Roberts worked for Jack Eckerd, the founder of Eckerd Drugstores, and worked on many political campaigns including Senator Bob Dole, General Alexander Haig, and Reverend Billy Graham.

Roberts led many legislative and regulatory efforts during his time at FAB and continues to advocate for the broadcasting profession before state and federal legislative bodies. During the rewrite of the Federal Communications Act, Roberts worked with Representative Cliff Stearns and his team, to ensure the interests of local broadcasters were protected. During the Florida Recount of 2000, the Florida Chief Justice appointed Roberts to oversee all National and International media for all of Florida’s court systems. Roberts requested Chief Justice William Rehnquist, the 16th Chief Justice of the United States, to release the audio and video tapes of the court hearings to the American public. Shortly after, Chief Justice Rehnquist faxed a letter to Roberts, agreeing to release the audio tapes only.

Roberts has testified before Congress on the critical role of broadcasters before, during and after a disaster.  In the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, Roberts partnered with the Florida Division of Emergency Management to coordinate relief efforts. Roberts also helped build Florida’s Emergency Alert System and served on the FCC's Communication Security Reliability and Interoperability Council.

Under his leadership, FAB continues to proudly partner with many state agencies and nonprofits in educating Floridians on critical and important messages affecting the state. Relationships with leaders in Florida, Members of Congress, the FCC, and NAB continue to be a top priority for Roberts.

In 2001, Pat and his wife founded The Seaside Chapel, one of his most beloved projects. He also devotes his time serving on many Boards, including: the National Jewish Hospital, the Ocean Reef Academy, and the OUNCE of Prevention of Florida.

Roberts resides in Tallahassee, Florida. He was married to the love of his life, Pam Roberts, for 41 years before her passing in 2022. He has four children Julie, Amanda (Donny), Madison (Amy), and Austin (Joy), and five grandchildren – Ethan, Emma, Haley, Harper and Olive, who are “his greatest achievements.”
