WWSB is the ABC station serving Sarasota & Manatee Counties on the Suncoast of Southwest Florida.
ABC7 in Sarasota, Florida, is looking for a Weekend Meteorologist to add to our legendary First Alert Weather Team. Weather is our top priority, from the inconvenient, to walking you through your weekend plans, all the way to hurricane coverage. We still get emails thanking our team for the information we provided during Hurricane Irma, and we need someone on this First Alert Weather Team who can live up to that standard of coverage. Knowledge of WSI is helpful.
Three days a week this employee will be a journalist telling stories in our community as a Multi-Media Journalist. We are looking for a journalist who is efficient enough to use all available platforms, smart enough to do everyday investigative stories, and creative enough to make their stories stand out in a competitive market. This is not an entry level position. Producing and anchoring experience are a plus. You should know how to shoot and edit for yourself and be able to use bonded backpacks for live shots. A strong belief in community involvement is required.
– Distribute weather data with hyper-local information to all available platforms (Digital, Radio, other partners)
– Fill in for other meteorologists as needed
– Shoot video
– Editor video
– Conduct interviews
– Shoot independent liveshots
– Contribute to social media platforms and mysuncoast.com
– Confident & experienced performance on air
– Able to handle breaking news and weather situations on air and behind the scenes in timely and professional manner
College degree. Certified meteorologist preferred. 1 year of reporter/MMJ experience required.
